A FEW WORDS ABOUT US.


Regina Barrett, BA. (Sociology, Religion, Native Studies)

 

Regina is an Elementary teacher experienced in teaching at all grade levels. She worked both in Nova Scotia and Southern Ontario, teaching Jr./Int. gifted students, phys.ed. and drama, before landing in Muskoka (BPS), where she involved herself in team teaching, resource support and working with primary exceptional students.

As a former Special Education Consultant and Counsellor, she is familiar with student frustration, low self-esteem issues, academic insecurity, assessments, Identification/Placement and Review Committee meetings and Individual Education Program plans. Regina has worked with teachers and students in all the Muskoka family of schools, liaising closely with a variety of agencies and physicians, including the assessment centre at the Hospital for Sick Children, on behalf of her student charges and parents.  Regina served for several years on the Board of Directors of Community Living in Muskoka.

With her Special Education and Guidance Specialist certification, Regina has enjoyed a long career working with children who had special needs, partnering with both parents and teachers in developing appropriate programs.  

Principal qualifications have assisted Regina in keeping The Muskoka Learning House organized and running efficiently

Regina is a member of the College of Teachers and is the owner of The Muskoka Learning House and its principal tutor.
